The core promise of a battery is simple: when the grid fails, your defined essential circuits keep running. Delivering that promise is engineering. We define the essential-loads circuit with you (lights, connectivity, refrigeration, security, medical equipment, the loads your life or business cannot pause), measure what it draws, and size the battery and inverter to carry it for the outage windows you realistically face.
Oversizing wastes capital; undersizing fails at the worst moment. The assessment finds the honest middle.
Load shifting and self-consumption
Without storage, solar energy must be used the moment it is generated. A battery lets the day's surplus carry the evening, lifting self-consumption from around 70% to above 90% in typical homes. On time-of-use commercial tariffs, storage also moves consumption out of expensive peak windows into cheap ones.
Peak demand reduction for business
Many commercial tariffs bill for your highest demand spike, not just energy consumed. A correctly controlled battery discharges precisely during those spikes, flattening the profile the utility sees. On demand-heavy tariffs this can be the strongest financial case for storage, and it is invisible without interval data, which is why our feasibility studies start with metering.
Sizing and chemistry
Battery capacity is quoted in usable kWh at a healthy depth of discharge, not marketing numbers. We size from your measured essential load and backup duration, add sensible headroom, and specify reputable lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry with proven South African support: long cycle life, thermal stability and honoured warranties.

Safety and installation standards
Batteries store serious energy and deserve serious respect: correct ventilation, protective devices, cable sizing, fire-conscious placement and SANS-compliant installation, finished with a Certificate of Compliance. Every Solaris storage installation is engineered and signed off accordingly, and declared properly for insurance.
Monitoring and battery health
We commission every battery with monitoring that tracks state of charge, cycling behaviour and fault conditions. Depth-of-discharge patterns are watched over time, because consistent deep cycling shortens life, and early detection is the difference between a warranty claim and a surprise.
